Can you make passive income with affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is characterized by the sale of products from third parties. The marketer brings the buyer and seller together. These sales are mostly standalone and one-time transactions with a single payment to the affiliate. Where sellers offer a continuity program or subscription based services, they may award the intermediary or affiliate with a periodic payment.

There is a direct link between labor and payment in a traditional employment agreement. Passive income is periodic income where the interlinkage between work and income is blurred. Thus, passive income may utilize the 24-7 economy that takes place online. Substantial online income is often the result of professional and stable actions that leave competitors behind. As such, the most successful affiliate marketers who earn stable passive income have a large following that they communicate with on a periodic basis. Yet, the earnings potential is in no proportion with the time invested. Consequently, one can confirm the question whether it is possible to earn a passive income with affiliate marketing. However, the constant flow of new and recurring customers is needed to maintain a stable affiliate income.

Any shortcuts…?

A large crowd is needed to make an above average and stable passive income with affiliate marketing. Even though there are always shortcuts, the real way to stability requires the establishment of an efficient and effective system for lead generation. Leads are interested in what you have to say and may follow (or decline) the credibility of the affiliate marketer. Yet, as mentioned before, not all prospects have the exact same need at the same time. Therefore, a prospect list should be probed periodically to generate maximum results.

Lead generation can be seen as ‘list building’. The list must be filled with quality prospects. Those without a genuine interest in what the affiliate has to say should be ignored. The objective is to combine low hanging fruit with future prospects and consumers with latent needs. The best way to reach out to this crowd is to market your offer to the best audience, with a tailored message. Obviously this message must be placed via the media used by the audience you target. The more media channels you use, the higher your chances of success.
